Privacy
KinOS is a shared home for chores, groceries and money. This describes exactly what it stores, why, and what you can do about it. It is specific rather than general, because a policy you cannot check is not worth much.
What KinOS stores
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your phone number | It is how you sign in. There is no password. |
| Your name | So the people in your Home see who did what, rather than an ID. |
| What your household shares | Chores and who they are assigned to, grocery items, expenses (amount, description, category, who paid, how it was split), settlements, and savings pools. |
| An activity log | A record of actions: “a chore was completed”, “an expense was added”. It never contains amounts. |
| Usage analytics | Which screens are opened, how often the app is used, and crash reports. Event names and counts only. Never amounts, descriptions, or anything you typed. |
Who can see it
Everything inside a Home is visible to the members of that Home, and to nobody else. This is enforced by database rules on the server, not by the app. A modified app cannot read another household’s data.
Separate Homes are separate. If you are in a flat and a trip, neither can see the other.
Where it is stored
On Google Firebase, in the asia-south1 region (Mumbai). Google processes it on KinOS’s behalf and under its own security commitments. Nothing is stored anywhere else.
Your theme, dashboard arrangement and tab preferences are stored only on your device and are never uploaded.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from inside the app, at Settings → You → Delete my account, or request it at kinos.social/delete-account. That page lists precisely what is erased, what is kept, and why.
In short: your name, phone number and sign-in are erased. Entries you made in a Home where other people remain are kept with your name replaced, because they are also those people’s record of their own money. A Home where you were the only member is deleted entirely.
Children
KinOS is not directed at children and should not be used by anyone under 13. It is a household coordination tool for the adults running a household.
Changes
If this changes in a way that affects what is collected, the app will say so before the change takes effect rather than quietly updating this page.
