Delete your KinOS account
KinOS is a shared home for chores, groceries and money. Because it is shared, deleting your account affects more than just you, so here is exactly what happens, before you ask for it.
From inside the app
- Open KinOS
- Tap the Home name at the top, then Settings
- Scroll to You → Delete my account
- Read what it tells you, then type DELETE to confirm
If you have already uninstalled
Email hello@kinos.social from any address, including the phone number you signed in with. That is the only way an account can be identified, since KinOS stores nothing else that points to you.
Requests are actioned within 30 days, and you get a confirmation when it is done.
What is deleted, and what is kept
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your name and phone number | Erased. Your sign-in stops working permanently. |
| Your membership of every Home | Removed. You lose access immediately. |
| Your name on shared records | Replaced with “Someone who left”. |
| A Home where you were the only member | Deleted entirely, along with everything in it. |
| Expenses, settlements and chores in a Home where others remain | Kept, with your name taken off. See below. |
Why anything is kept. An expense you logged is also the
other person’s record of their own money: “Balaji paid ₹4,500, I owe
₹2,250” is as much their history as yours. Deleting it would erase a third
party’s financial record on your request. So those entries stay, with your
name removed. Once your name and phone number are gone, what remains is an
anonymous identifier that cannot be traced back to you.
Things worth knowing
- Deletion cannot be undone. There is no recovery period.
- An unsettled balance is not cleared by deleting your account. It stays in the Home’s ledger and can still be settled by the people left there.
- Signing up again later with the same number creates a new, empty account. Nothing is restored.
